 Whether you are planning a large traditional celebration, a cocktail reception or an intimate beach ceremony, Clare will interpret your ideas to create your perfect wedding dress. She also creates beautiful fascinators, veils and accessories to complement your wedding gown.
Clare believes the key to being a stunning bride is to choose the right silhouette for your body shape. Clare knows how to make the most of every woman’s body. She will offer professional advice regarding which styles, fabrics and decorative features will flatter your figure.
“The hunt for the dress is a daunting experience for many brides – which style, how much will it cost, will I like it?” says Clare. It’s important the bride has the opportunity to discuss her ideas in a relaxed, pressure-free environment. A custom designed gown will show off a woman’s best attributes. I photograph my brides at their consultation so I can create a template of their body shape on which I sketch their design. This gives a realistic image of what the gown will look like and I create a calico toile so they can check their design prior to commencing the actual wedding dress.”
Of course, it’s not just important to look fabulous on your wedding day, but also to feel comfortable. “You need to be able to walk, sit, dance and breathe!” Clare says. “I use silk lining as it is anti-static and reduces perspiration. I avoid the use of layer upon layer of polyester fabrics common in off the rack wedding dresses as they are very hot and heavy and I construct the gowns so they are easy to get into and out of.”
The majority of our couture wedding gowns are priced between $2,000 and $4,000. This includes labour and fabric, which is sourced on the client’s behalf. We have a wide range of samples and colours for your perusal.
Bridesmaids
Clare can also design your bridesmaids’ dresses in styles that complement their figures and the theme of your wedding. Please note our bridesmaid and flower girl service is offered exclusively to Clare Chittenden Couture brides. Prices for bridesmaids’ dresses start at $550.00 and flower girls’ dresses start at $250.00.
Ready To Wear Wedding Dresses
In addition to our made to measure service, we do offer ready to wear wedding gowns from time to time at reduced prices. These are dresses that have been uniquely created by Clare for photographic, catwalk and exhibition purposes. They come in standard dress sizing, mostly size 8 to 12 with some size 14 to 16.
